Future NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is bringing his talents to the Burgh.

… And Pittsburgh should put him right back on a plane going the opposite direction of the Steelers.
I know, Yinzer Nation – This might be an unpopular take, but hear me out and I think you’ll at least be able to go, “Hey, that Spiffy guy called it” when the inevitability of another disappointing 9-8 season manifests itself.
Let’s look at this signing a few different ways. First and foremost: Risk vs. Reward. Is the juice worth the squeeze? Is it worth bringing in Grandpa Rodgers on a 1-year deal? A guy who is about five years past being able to carry a football team? A guy who famously got the cold shoulder from Brett Favre for years as a backup? HE is going to come be a mentor to our young Quarterback room? A guy who very well may shatter his wrist signing his contract and has as much of a shot of staying healthy all 17 games as the Philadelphia Flyers do of winning a Stanley Cup. (Spoiler alert: 50 years and counting)
Could the Steelers get a better return on investment elsewhere? Say… Maybe a Tight End since we are already minus one for the season? Maybe a reliable WR2 to allow the rest of our young Wide-Receiver group to mature?
Where does Aaron Rodgers put the TEAM in 2026 and beyond? Does he leave the Pittsburgh Steelers in a better place than he found it? Even by a “best case” scenario, I don’t believe that he will.
Have you seen the movie “The Replacements?”

Shane Falco, baby. See… Falco is a Pittsburgh guy. Gutsy underdogs that the city can rally behind. You know who Aaron Rodgers is?
Yup.

Martel.
Got no heart.
And this city needs heart.
And with this O-Line, the Steelers QB needs to be able to move around and take a hit. Aaron Rodgers ain’t that guy. I wouldn’t be shocked if he demanded to wear #12.
But don’t worry, Pittsburgh! We’ve got our Falco!

I’m kidding.

Will Howard might as well have shot directly out of Ben Roethlisberger’s loins for how he is already being hyped as the Next Coming. This is before he has even taken a snap in the NFL and here’s the thing: HE SHOULD BE.
Look, Mason Rudolph is a solid NFL Quarterback and if the Steelers Sign Rodgers, there is a good chance that Mason will still end up starting more games than him this season. But Will Howard is the future QB of this franchise and if he’s NOT (*cough cough Pickett cough*) we need to know that ASAP because Grandpa Rodgers is going to need naps and Mason Rudolph isn’t your long-term guy.
Have you heard the way that Will is tearing up OTA’s? He’s putting up Brady-Like numbers, and the kid is just going to keep getting better. How long do you think it is before this city turns on Rodgers? How long of a leash do you think Mason Rudolph has with Will waiting in the wings? How many bad interceptions do you think Steeler fans need to see before the “We Want Howard” chants echo through Acrisure Stadium?
You don’t need a crystal ball, kids. You just need to be realistic about what Aaron Rodgers brings to an NFL team at this point in his career and more importantly – Is he a good fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers?
He’s not.
The Steelers don’t sign distractions, and Aaron Rodgers will be nothing to this city besides exactly that.
Stay home, Aaron.
