Becoming Better: Guided by Grandma’s Wisdom

Had a great #manifestmonday – Took care of some loose ends, booked an awesome NYE gig for Walk of Shame, the Pens looked great, and I got to cook dinner for my mom.

We found ourselves talking a lot about my grandmother. No matter what the world threw at her, she just absolutely crushed any bit of adversity that her and her family faced. She was SUPER hard on us when she needed to be, but would ALWAYS find a way to take care of EVERYONE. If she knew you, she treated you like family, too. She set an absolutely unattainable bar for her children and grandchildren to try to hit.

I found myself talking to her a LOT more these last few months.

What would she think about the man that I am? The man that I aspire to become? The life that I lead? The choices that I’ve made? Her approval helped shape me and guide me. I don’t know if it made me a better man, but it 100% made me TRY. Be better today than you were yesterday.

Look in the mirror. Maybe it’s not your grandmother – It’s whoever your hero is. She’s mine.

Can I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and know that gram would approve?

Can you?

Also – How am I way cuter NOW than I was 16 years ago? Moisturize! In my defense – She made me cry because she had just hugged me and told me how proud of me she was. Go Dukes!
